How I robbed two Daedric Lords, using the artifact of a thir

At least, in my head I did....

Some time ago he'd started The House of Horrors, Molag Bal's quest, when he went into the "haunted house" and was forced to kill the Vigilant of Stendar. I hadn't planned to continue it -- Shum gro-Kurz may be chaotic, but he's not evil, and has no desire to help Molag Bal (Molag Bal created vampires, which gro-Kurz has no love for), so I'd planned to never continue the part where you find the priest of Boethiah for Molag Bal to torture.

Then I hit level 30.

And almost immediately after that happened (while I was up around Saarthal), the Boethiah Cultist attacked me, starting the Boethiah's Calling quest.

Curious, I went to the Sacellum of Boethiah to see what this quest would entail. When I learned it would involve killing a Follower, Shum left. He made plans to come back and burn them all, but that could wait.

But there was another Boethian cultist out there. One Molag Bal wanted.

A plan began to form.

I tracked down Logrolf the Willful, killing many Forsworn along the way (and nabbing lots of their gear; good for use in improving Smithing skill). I freed him, followed him back to the House of Horrors in Markath. He got trapped in the altar-cage, Molag Bal ordered me to beat him to death with the Rusty Mace until he begged to be freed & pledged his soul to Molag Bal. So I beat him.

As did my Follower, Lydia. Who had an Orcish bow I'd made with the Soul Bind enchantment.

And the Black Star of Azura, which could trap "black" (sapient) souls.

So, while the game says Shum beat the Boethian priest until he switched allegiances to Molag Bal, and Bal got his soul once I beat him to death, my headcanon is that Lydia trapped Logrolf's soul in the Black Star before it could be collected by the Daedric Lord, thus robbing Boethiah of a priest and Molag Bal of a plaything!

Not sure what I'll use his Grand soul for. I've gotten Shum's Enchanting up to 100, and the Extra Effect perk, so I could make an item with two effects (mace with damage magicka & damage stamina?), but his Smithing's only 65, so he can't get Ebony (or Daedric) Smithing yet. (Headcanon: the Mace of Molag Bal Shum got [for completing the quest] isn't the real Mace, since Molag Bal never offered it to him, but what Shum has is a mockup he made, using Logrolf's soul. Just need to hold on to his soul until I can get Daedric Smithing.)
