Hi

I am relatively new to this game and my question is whether it is mandatory to become a werewolf for companions quest to proceed. I am on the quest The Silver Hand and can't seem to get beyond it since I don't want to be a werewolf.

Could anyone tell me if it is possible to continue companions mission without turning into a werewolf.

Any help will be appreciated.

Just do it. It'll be fine. Trust me.

Yes you do, but you can eventually cure it. Unless you have hircine's ring, you won't even have to worry about transforming or anything (after the initial transformation).

I am level 30 now and I do have Hircine's ring with blessing of Hircine upon it. The curse was lifted. I defied Hircine's orders to kill that guy. Instead I killed hunters.

Then you should be fine if it's the transformation part of being a werewolf that you're worried about. I've done the companions quest line so many times and became a werewolf, but have only transformed one time in my entire experience. I forget about it most of the time. It's not as annoying to deal with like the vampires are.

I am not a werewolf yet, since I haven't gone through with initiation. But, and I don't remember how this quest started, I have helped the guy with cursed Hircine's ring and got the ring uncursed. I decided not to kill the guy even though Hircine told me to.

But even with the ring un-cursed you can still become a werewolf. It just doesn't happen at random anymore.

At least I think that's the way it works.

You're correct. You can have one more transformation a day. But you get to choose when.

I was indeed worried about being contaminated .

One of the last quests in the line gives you an option to. Another way around might be to turn into a vampire and then cure yourself?

You have to finish the Companions questline, which it seems you aren't able to do.
