Went to dawnstar to be confronted with a huge battle.
I helped the npcs in the city killing an attacking dragon, meanwhile I got ambushed from behind by a sabre cat and a group of vampires finished off my contract for the dark brotherhood, where I actually came for.

While trying to kill the dragon some guy came running up to me asking if I could hold on to his weapon, he would come back later. Not much later a hunter asked if id seen anyone passing by lately, so I lied to him and he went away again.


Anyway, is this a quest or something? I never got this before and didnt had much chance reading everything they had to say because of the current raids

It's a random encounter. If the second guy catch up with the first, he usually end up killing him for stealing his stuff, but that's the end of it. Basically, it's a way to get an enchanted item for free.
