Low gpu usage...

Post » Fri Mar 08, 2013 9:01 am

Has anyone else found their Gpu's having a low usage throughout the first docks level in SP??
I got really up and down usage with 2x580's sli and i72600k @ 4.2ghz.

Usually while looking into a big room of people the usage would go from 90% to 40% on both cards with a signifigant frame drop into the 30s or 20s.
No matter what settings i had high or low it would drop significantly in these areas.

Im using the latest drivers and even with just one card it still happened although not as much as the frames were lower to begin with obviously with less power.

As soon as I got into the jungle city it seems to have gone back to normal with gpus pushing 90% and constant 70 to 80 fps with mixture of med and very high settings.

It also happeneds during the cut scenes, a gpu drop and frame drop.

I figured CPU bottleneck so I overclocked to 4.5ghz but it had no change.

I have had this in a few other new games lately and its getting really frustrating!. Are games just getting to CPU dependant these days?? Do i upgrade the cpu?? I would have thought it was powerfull enough??

Any thoughts or anyone having the same problem?. thx

I had the same problem in the beta:

http://secure.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=57740

The sulution for me:
    1. I reinstalled the driver with a clean install (custom installation).

    (this was my problem)

    2. Then i use the config that enables sli.

    3. In nvidia panel i enable sli.

And now the cards are working normally arround 100fps multiplayer beta.

Yea I did that in the Beta as well and it worked fine. unfortunately not with the full version though.
It seems mainly on that first level in the single player. Multiplayer runs fine. I had one slow down and gpu drop on airport when looking down across were one of the crash sites are. I fixed it and increased the fps by quite a bit by actually increasing the settings from medium to high and very high, I guess it made the gpus work harder. Something isn't right here. I think a patch is needed.

Looked over those posts and its the exact same problem. Good to see other people getting it but its annoying. Im guessing a driver issue/patch for the game.

The gpu loads of my GTX 690 are mostly around 50 %, rarely reaching full load. The game is unplayable, because with around 40 FPS the microstuttering is horrible. The funny thing is: Even on the lowest possible settings (on full hd) I don't get good fps, only idling gpu cores and microstuttering. I literally "fought" my way to the first jungle part and the problem persists.
I've tried the 314.07 and 313.96 beta drivers with completely fresh installations.
I never had those problems in the beta, it scaled perfectly.

System specs:
Windows 8 64 bit
2500K @ 4,5 GHz
GTX 690
16 GB DDR-3 1600 RAM
