I'm trying to get a friend to party up and play together, but for some reason, his version of the game didn't automatically update with Patch A. As a result, whenever I try to join his squad, it says Version mismatch.

Is there any way to get this patch installed manually, as it seems automatic updating isn't working for him? He's already tried switching back between SP and Multiplayer, but it still doesn't update. Right clicking the game and checking for updates in Origin also doesn't work.

Let me know if anyone else is having this issue!

I know this is posted in the PC section, but just to make sure can you verify that you're talking about the PC version?

He mentioned Origin, I'm pretty sure only PC is plagued with that.

In that case, I'd recommend your friend try checking his firewall and router settings. It might be worth moving his computer into the router's DMZ. It sounds like he's not receiving any comms from the data patch server.

Try sitting in the Multiplayer menu for a minute or two before backing out into SP and back into MP.

Nope, changing firewall settings still didn't work. Glad this is getting noticed by Crytek, though. More and more people seem to be having this problem.
