I have started yet another run through of the game and was thinking about an Odin build this time round. I have the look down pat, Nordic carved armor with the helm of Yngol. But what's bugging me is the fact that Odin is a magical being and thus I cannot think of what schools he would be a master in. Another issue is that he uses a spear so I was going to use a staff in place of his spear, but what effect should said staff have? And finally I was just wondering what weapon class should I choose, for the most part he uses his spear but I have read that he as well used a battle axe to dispatch his foes. So should I go with two-handed OR should I try a mix of both one-handed and two-handed?

Mostly though it's trying to choose the magic schools to master and what effect I should choose for a staff to replace his spear that I'm hung up on.
Any aid would be much appreciated.

Alteration perhaps? Being able to resist and absorb most of the spells thrown at you seems fitting for a god. The armor spells would help with combat in addition to giving your character a cool shiny shell that your enemies lack. Might also go with some destruction just for the lightning cloak or the occasional thunderbolt (i know its stereotypical ). Restoration may be useful for the wards and the avoid-death perk.

Yeah I can see that fitting in with Odin, what about the spear/staff?? I was thinking frost 'maybe'....

Hmm i'm not a huge fan of staves in skyrim but if i had to pick i'd to with wall of lightning just for the visual effects. I like where i fight to look like an epic smoking battlefield. You could use icy storm or chain lightning staffs instead or until wall staffs appear in levelled lists.
