How to set to ultra??

Post » Fri Mar 08, 2013 8:55 pm

I feel remarkably silly asking this, but I've seen a lot of people talk about Ultra settings but I've not seen an ultra setting in-game. I'm sporting HD 7950's in Crossfire, so I'm quite sure I'd be able to push some of the graphics even more as I'm handling everything on Very High without any issues. (Non-snarky) responses and help much appreciated.

Technically, as far as I know, there is no actual setting called "Ultra" in this game. I believe people call the highest setting in any game "Ultra" whether the game titles it that way or not.

So if someone is running the game on Very High for everything, they might call that "Ultra" or "Max" settings.

That's my guess, I could be completely wrong though.

There isn't any ultra setting, just low, medium, high, and very high; just like the first Crysis.

If you're looking to push your cards more, you can use the available CVars to set draw distances higher, LOD distance, grass animation distance, increase tessellation distances, all that good stuff. There's a stickied thread in the PC forum about the CVar tool and the zip contains a list of everything you can set: http://secure.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=56955

Thought so lol. Yeah, go to the link he posted and download the file in the OP. You'll be able to get more out of the game graphically.

There's no Ultra mostly because the game is DX11 only and Very High in C2 was pretty much Ultra without DX11 features

Thanks, SancZero - that's what I suspected, but the term is popping up so frequently I was becoming convinced I was missing something. My observation, then, is that people are calling Ultra, Very High+MSAA 8x since the max MSAA seems to be a significant resource drain. Well, thanks for helping me clear that up.
