Altering Player Character height?

Post » Thu Apr 01, 2010 5:34 am

So after I met Jean-Baptiste Cutting and noticed that he was considerably taller than I was. I'm planning on making a melee weapons character next, and I figured having a somewhat larger character with a buster sword would be pretty cool. Is there any way to give my character greater height? Also, one other quick question. Is there a way to make the increase range mod for the grenade rifle also suitable for the grenade launcher? Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Thanks for the fast response

"player.setscale - set player scale; 1.0 is default; 0.95 is small, 1.1 is big, 10.0 is huge (not recommended to use indoors)"

might also want to take a look at the game Settings under the gameplay drop down menu:

Filter fgrenade, fprojectile, fgun (play with the settings)

I don't want to use the "console" commands to make my player-character shorter....does anyone know where in the editor/what setting controls that? I can make npc's taller/shorter with no problem....just can't find where the actual player setting might be. If there is one.

I'm having great fun running around with a very tall Boone and making npc's like Captain Curtis tiny tots, but now I want to have a mini-me.

Have you tried messing with the Player/PlayerFemale NPC's properties?

You should make a custom race (right click in the list and create a copy of the race you will modify -don't forget to make it playable if need be) before editing it unless you want every character in the game to look like they're giants. That's the best way if you don't want to use the console.

I did notice that one, but being an editor novice I wasn't sure if that was really the player character sheet or not...some of the other stats/description in it sounded a bit off. But I suppose I'll try it anyway. :)

I'm not trying to make all the 'generic Khans' change height or something, only the companions & myself. Named npc's have separate stat sheets where you seem to be able to define height/weight just for them. For instance, by default (I didn't change anything) they made Arcade Gannon noticably taller than most others, for some reason, including taller than your character. Changing CraigBoone height hasn't affected anyone else that I've noticed. *knock on wood* heh

But I'd like it more if my female Courier was shorter rather than others being taller. I'm very short in real life and sometimes I want a game to reflect that I have to look up at people all the time. It amuses me. ;)

Well you probably shouldn't go below 0.90 as it is small enough (for information 0.80 is the size of kids).

I've played through Fallout 3 with a 0.90 sized character and the Wolverine mod, it was epic so I get what you mean. ;)

Yeah, I did try making a companion .20 tall, and that was so tiny I could barely see them, plus they kept falling/clipping through the graphic tiles up to their shoulders & couldn't keep up with you. And if you went up to 10.00 (only outdoors, of course) they start having problems being able to aim/fire at up close objects. It was hilarious tho....
