Came across this over at the Nexus.

This little application (2MB) will will show preview thumbnails of your .dds textures in Windows Explorer (as well as other information about the image).
There are several other file types included with the package.

I found it useful, hope some of you do as well.

To configure it, right click on any image file and select Sage Thumbs > Sage Thumbs Options...
