build an acedemy, hire scientists you get science points daily. and make sure to build your otwn somewhere very defensible. ether in a canyon pass or on a LARGE open area (so that you can easily wall it in and see in all directions with a crows nest)

Yes, i want to know how to do that. How do i hire scientists? Where are these scientists?

Also please suggest some good locations for the town, i chose a bit hilly/open area between the super duper mart and megaton... i hope i can move later.

I built one of mine next to the parking lot at Old Olney. Where the row of destroyed houses is above the wall. Probably not such a good idea because if I don't return often Deathclaws are attracted to the area :)
I use MMM as well so there's a lot of creatures wandering around. Even if I have Animal Friend perk Yao Guais and Wannamingoes attack my villagers.

I don't think you can move later. I haven't progressed very far, so don't really know.

I tried reading the official mod faq and hints but none of them has useful information on how to build an academy. Right now i have just started and trying to figure out how to finish the storage room

..... they give you step by step instructions while you are playing the mod, are you reading them all the way through? and are you talking to the guy who tells you what to do, as he has an option "i have some questions" and it will tell you all you need to know.

Bess has all the blueprints in her inventory. Take them all out. Click on the one for the Academy. If you can't build it (due to lack of materials) it'll tell you in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
If you can build it it'll show a message that it's been loaded into the construction set. Hit your 'build' key (usually C) and wait a few seconds for the mock-up to appear in front of you (I assume it appears like the toilet did). Then place it where you want it to go.

I haven't built one yet, not enough materials or builders available. I had an issue with the workbench so had to re-start the mod as I couldn't then build anything new. It was no fault of the mod, but my own

Edit:

oh make sure you set your rations to normal in the mailbox extra options when you start building, the mod sets it to no rations when you first start it for some reason.

Well, I was gonna make myself sound stupid and ask what the hell RTS was... (since i've never really got it) But, someone seems to have beaten me to it! :P

So, it's kinda like modding in-game, for those whose head's the GECK makes explode?

Interesting... o_O

err kinda, there is a bit more depth than that. you have to recruit villagers and put them into different roles, soldier craftsman builder or searcher, searchers find food and building materials, builders build stuff and can get materials from rubble piles, craftsmen build stuff like furniture and weapons and soldier is obviously there to defend. you can set up trade routes and have to deal with diplomacy, some towns will ask for help im not sure what you get in return as my town is juts barely getting on its feet.

In a way it reminds me of Age of Empires. Just the town-building part of it, anyway. As with AOE I must build a walled fortress to keep everyone out :hehe:
