-POLL- SP hit sound feedback: Too low?

Post » Mon Mar 11, 2013 6:36 am

Hey guys.

One thing that I noticed when playing Crysis 3 single player:

When hitting enemies with bullets, there is no discernable "sound" of bullet impact against their body!

An example of this would be, for instance, Crysis 1/Warhead. A distinct sound could be heard every time your bullets impact with an enemy. It is quite audible, and makes gunplay very satisfying. Another example of this is Medal of Honor Warfighter.

Right now Crysis 3 includes a discernable sound only when killing or headshotting an enemy, or when killing them with the bow. Bullet-based weapons have either no feedback, or a feedback so low that I can't hear it versus other sounds such as gunfire.

My proposal: Add a hit feedback sound to the game, make it audible versus gunfire sounds, and buff the headshot/kill feedback volume as well.

What do you think?

What? Is this really necessary?
It's just like having a hitmarker: It's breaking the immersion for me.

If they were to include it, make it toggable, so I don't have to deal with this.

This is a good suggestion. Chose the first option in the poll.

Hit markers are fake reticules imprinted on your view. Hit feedback however is pretty realistic: There MUST be sound involved in a high-velocity rotating projectile penetrating flesh!

It certainly wouldn't harm to have a toggle or volume slider for this option.

I'd like to note that this effect has been present in all previous Crysis games including Crysis 2.

It is a very important aspect of gunplay feeling for some, like me, and not so important for others. The objective of this thread is to see just for how many people it is important and for how many it isn't.

Keep the votes coming! :)

Yea Crysis has extremely distinct sound for bullet impact. It quite easy to tell if you dropped your target with a headshot or if you just knocked him down with a chest shot. Very recognizable difference.. I'm less concerned with the sounds the game makes, I just want the crash bug fixed! My little brothers 360 version, after 3 brand new copies, exchanged at gamestop AND the patch its only worse than before.

It now freezes within a minute of loading the alpha ceph checkpoint. And my ps3 version which was perfect all the way through the veteran campaign (prepatch) is now doing the same thing(post patch).

F*ck the sound! I want these 2 copies I paid good money for to simply WORK..

Not everyone has a viable internet connection to play MP or even download patches for games that have been released, broken. My little brother is one of those people, he had to wait over a week to bring his 360 over to dl the patch, just to make it worse..

For the record, this poll bears absolutely no relevance to other, unrelated issues. Please vote within the context of the poll.
