Going around in a dungeon

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm playing Daggerfall.

So I'm in Yeomwing Tower hunting down this guy who stole from a shop and I need to get him back alive.

So there's this big ass tower full of giants. Okay, despite being level 3 I've learned to overcome them with ridiculous ease. Thing is that I find navigating in the tower (and dungeons in general) extremely frustrating.

So I open map and there's this weird yellow shape on the left with a red square and a blue square. I learned that the red square is me, so is the blue square the objective then? Does it show the right floor, because this being a tower there are quite a bloody few floors around. I go to each floor I know and go to the spot with the blue dot but I always find only an empty room.

Sorry for kind of a stupid question but I've spent far more time searching for that dude than I should have. Moreover, there are not one but two towers in Yeomwing Tower location, and I really fear that I'm in the wrong one.

Yep, and there's lots of them. I've killed about 15 of them so far. Lots of saber cats too, and a few orcs.

I feel cheated because the shopkeeper that gave me the quest said that the thief would be unguarded besides a few personal goons. He didn't say anything about a frigging army of giants!

Also, how often do places respawn in Daggerfall? Since I'm rolling an Altmer spellsword I need to go drop off some loot and I don't want to go through all the work a second time.
