» Mon Mar 11, 2013 3:05 am So last night I completed "Bolstering the Ranks," a mission that really shouldn't have been as difficult as it was. The problem is that I, being the compassionate soul that I am, desired to complete the mission without killing the Charmed Vigilants of Stendarr. The problem was that Serana refused to play ball, so instead I had to run around spamming Pacify to avoid a blood bath. So far so good. I had lots of potions I was looking to get rid of anyway.
So I reach the end of the dungeon and find Minorne and a couple more Charmed Viglilants. Knowing Serana would just end up killing everyone if I didn't handle the situation just right, I took out my shiny new Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow and took a sneak shot at Minorne, killing her instantly.
This is where my clever plan fell apart.
I was hoping that killing Minorne would free the Vigilants of the Charm spell that Minorne cast on them. It did... in a manner of speaking. They all dropped dead simultaneously. So I could have just killed everyone myself and the quest would have been all the easier.
Did anyone else try to do this quest without killing the Vigilants of Stendarr? And if you did, were you as upset as I to find your efforts were all for not?
