The importence of where....

I think we need to acknowledge in the game that where you are struck in the body should contrast to the damage you receive such as sneaking up on a target and striking it in the head would do far more damage than striking it in the foot etc.also why is there no damage bonus when useing a spell like fireball while in sneak on a target there should be one regardless, your catching the target off guard thats the point of sneak to get a advantege in combat right?I also beleive we need somthing changed we shouldn't be able to just walk right up to a target in sneak if are skill is high they should see us if we don't even try to hide in shadows or come up from behind.

Look at the Sneak Tree perks.

I wouldn't mind a locational damage system (head shots, etc) for a TES game if they could make it work. I had been kind of hoping Skyrim would have one before it came out.

If CoD can do it Skyrim could.

That's actually the first thing people cite as reasons not to implement locational damage. TES isn't CoD. A lot of people are of the mindset that the player's skill should never be as important as the character's skill. Locational damage elevates the player skill past the character skill, so someone with no skill at all in Archery can still one hit kill a boss because the player is skilled enough to land a headshot. Overall, I'm inclined to agree with that being a bad idea.

However, there are ways to tweak the system to allow for both, and that's largely to make the character skill do more than just determine damage. If it controlled speed (of either swings or drawing the bow), range of magic or archery attacks, damage, spell cost (that it already does, though it doesn't boost damage :(), chance of getting a critical hit, and more, then I think we could probably implement locational damage more effectively. It'd be great if such a system allowed for non-lethal takedowns.

I do agree that magic should get a sneak attack bonus. Maybe connect it with the Archery-Sneak perk?

Just bc CoD uses it doesnt mean no one should uses bc OMG ITZ COD!

Im not saying 1 shot 1 kill if you get the head shot, but it should do like 25%-50% damage.

I didn't say that at all. I said I agree with the idea that character skill should be a more important factor than player skill, and that a lot of people rally against the suggestion of locational damage shouting the mantra "TES isn't CoD."
