Picking a Home to fortify (using Real Time Settlers)

For the longest time I had been using the underground hideout mod, but found it to be rather game breaking for me. I never cared for the default player homes, so I got this mod http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/36922

With it I can copy world objects and spawn them elsewhere, so I can make any building a home with a campfire, workbench, reloading bench, bed, storage, and water.

I know not everyone has a PC copy, but they can still help me too.

I basically could use some help finding a nice building / bunker /cave that is in a nice location. All that matters is that it has decent enough room, and is in a nice location. I can remove any junk objects inside and out, but do need a nice interior cell to do my renovation in.

I would like somewhere that I won't get mauled by a random surprise deathclaw or other nasty (I can deal with assassin squads) and is decently defensible.

One character fortified wolfhorn ranch with a chain link fence and sand bag barrier around the home with the front edge along the slope just outside the door, and the back edge along the back slope where the assassins approach from. It had some sniping positions and 1 entrance with a mine field outside it. I found it rather remote though, and the shack is quite tiny.

My sneaky melee character used the hidden supply cave near nipton and added lighting and a fence and gate around the passage to the cave, and of course laid a bunch of mines.

I am looking to make another home base and thought I could get some ideas for locations to scout out to renovate. I would rather not have to murder any innocents to aquire it though. There are a lot of locations in the wasteland and it would be hard to evaluate them all alone, so I ask that anyone who has ideas on where I might set up would please share them with me.
