So I'm gonna try out the idea of a Druid, ever done that bef

Post » Fri Mar 15, 2013 4:29 pm

My first idea was to make a warrior lady, but eh. I played it alot of times, so I really just wanted to play something more refreshing instead. So I thought about this.

Race: Wood Elf (Command animals for the lovely Druid.)
Stone: Mage Stone, eventually Serpent stone (To imitate a certain ability of an animal.)
Skills:
Alteration
Illusion (To calm down animals, or use the power of the epic nature to slap some courage into the face of my allies!)
Restoration (Nature is often combined with healing, right?)
One-handed
Light Armor
Alchemy (Eh, it fits the idea.)

Weapon choice:
A staff and a blade of wooden material, forsworn weapons will do. Eventually Miraak's staff and sword.
Armor choice:
Fur, forsworn armor, I think. And the bear helmet.

RP ideas:
Lycanthrophy (Beast form for druid, yep. And since my character has a connection with the wilds, Hircine would make a nice guy to worship anyway.)
An animal companion, a dog in the beginning ofcourse. Moving up to an armored troll.

Any other ideas? I don't think I need help with the build. (But suggestions are always welcome.) But I do wonder what would fit a druid more roleplay wise. If you played this idea before, I will appreciate if you shared your experiences.

Don't forget your shouts:
Animal Allegiance,
Aura Whisper, ( Using nature to see for you )
Bend Will, ( If you have DB )
Clear Skies,
Kyne's Peace,
Throw Voice.

These shouts can be aligned with nature aspect of the druid though I wouldn't use any other apart from if it is needed during a quest.

The Skaal in Solstheim are nature worshippers and they really didn't like Hircine or werewolves in Bloodmoon. I think they said that man isn't supposed to lead a half-life between being a rational creature and a beast or some such and that they were abominations. In addition to setting werewolves on their village, Hircine tried to sabotage their Ristaag ritual and had the Spirit Bear killed on his terms. While the Skaal taught the player to call wolves and bears, Hircine taught the player to summon undead wolves.
You're not playing a Skaal, but I'd say that a character such as this worshipping Hircine would be unorthodox. Still, if you think your character can justify it to himself, go ahead.

Become Ethereal involves the void which doesn't belong in Druid lore, Cyclone and the rest could do though not sure about slow time.

Slow time manipulates the world around you, which Druids tend to make use of aswell. Ethereal seems like a spiritual thing, which fits druids IMO.

I'd suggest not hunting or randomly attacking people (since druids where quasi guardians of life) so just defend your self mostly.

Lycanthrophy is the ''beast form'' idea for a druid. Ofcourse I could make a werewolf who does not worship Hircine. He will only use lycanthrophy to protect others and nature though, not for hunting innocent people.

Druids would hunt. You gotta clothe yourself somehow, and you gotta eat. But you would only hunt for sustenance, not collecting.

Mostly, maybe. But if you kill a deer, for example, you could like, leave some flowers of some kind on the corpse and say a prayer.

I think that could be a good balance.

True, and Druid support balance. Hunting would probably be natural in their eyes, like a wolf hunts a deer.
Difference is, my Druid will do it to survive, not for fashion. :)

Decided to give the druid the name: ''Gaethalon''.
A pretty buff guy with a beard and long hair, to make him give the 'Bulky wise man'' appearance. Aswell for showing his beast traits. I still need a reason for my druid to become a companion though, for beast powers.

Most Druids didn't start off as druids ,you could say he joined and completed the companions but the violence was to much for him so he retreated from the world for a time and became a druid .

Armor choice:
Fur, forsworn armor, I think. And the bear helmet.
I never understood why the typical fantasy druid, a "protector of the wild", always wears fur armor etc that just screams "hey, look at the cool helmet and jacket I made from the deer I just killed. It has cool horns and stuff." I would wear either simple, worn robes or armor with some kind of animal symbolism, like http://uesp.net/wiki/File:SR-item-Wolf_Armor_Male.jpg or http://uesp.net/wiki/File:DB-item-Nordic_Carved_Armor_Male.jpg... But that's my my two cents. :turned:

They wouldn't have "cool helmet and jacket made from the deer I killed," but would have "cool wolf helmet and armor made from wolf carcass?"

Yes.

I have a Breton Druid (considering they were descended from the Druids of Galen). Druids are the curates of the trees, specifically Oak - and Skyrim is filled with Oak. The Eldergleam itself is an Oak. Lightning is also big with Druids.
