How can I enjoy Skyrim and look past it's faults?

Post » Fri Mar 15, 2013 8:11 pm

Hey guys.

Skyrim is the only Elder Scrolls I haven't been able to get much enjoyment out of it. I completely the main quest and the guild questlines sometime around release and since then the game hasn't been able to hook me since.

I won't bother explaining my reasons in great detail as I'm sure most of you know what the faults are in Skyrim (no consequences, shallow mechanics etc). Every time I give the game another shot these things feel like a huge weight on the game and I just can't enjoy it at all. If anyone can give me some suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.. thanks :)

Exploring seems to be one of the worst parts for me. There isn't much unique to discover.

There is plenty out there to discover, you just haven't found it.

I never try to force myself to play a game I cannot get into, no matter how popular it is.

What's your platform?

If on PC..obviously overhaul mods that enhance character developement like SkyRe or Requiem would be a good start..and smaller tweaks and additions to the leveling system. mods that stop annoyances like forced quests....

There aren't many good Quest mods yet unfortunately due to the difficulty of the new scripting and stability issues...But there are also mods that slightly enhance vanilla guilds

If on console though unless you're into RP'ing in the game world I don't think there is much you can do to enhance your experience if you dislike the core game

This is my thought as well. Never force yourself to play a game.

If it couldn't hook you into enjoying it then there's nothing much you can really do. Roleplaying is an option but that may not really work for you.

You may have to leave Skyrim alone...

Yeah I figured as much. Oblivion and Morrowind were amazing experiences. I'm just disappointed Skyrim isn't doing it for me but it seems to for others.
