So it all stared when I was liberating Fort Hraggstad, there were about six imperials left. I killed all but three and it told me my quest was done. The last imperials stopped fighting and when I killed two neither fought back. I left the last one for no real reason and went back to camp, then talked with Galmar and he told me to receive orders from Ulfric. Easy enough, I start to head over to solitude when the arrow to where I was suppose to go disappeared and so did the marker for solitude. I went to the nearest stables and got a ride to solitude. There wasn't a stormcloak in sight but there were burning barricades everywhere. I get to the door and there are three Imperials, each tell me to watch out for stormcloaks but nothing else. I try to enter the city but the door is locked. I go to windhelm and talk with Ulfric, he doesn't say anything but I get a new quest to make the general surrender. I can't get in the city to do this of course and I know I missed a huge chunk of other things I had to do. I play on a console and I really don't want to revert to my last save. Is there any other way or do I have to restart?

bit random but have you tried going through the side entrance to solitude? its along the river past the docks and the east empire co warehouse.
