Yeah, their elven lineage is exaggerated. And taking Racial Phylogeny (an in-game book describing inter-species relations) into account, it's likely that any elfness in them is recessive (so to speak, since TES may not be too strict on the whole genetics and heredity thing).

Definitely. I agree that many read too much into the Elven input. It is only a small amount due to "some" of their ancestors being used as 'six slaves'.

I think the more noble heraldry of High Rock may have less Elven genes due to years of Nord & Imperial interaction in the cities and major towns and the commoner country folk may have a bit more Elven input but even then it's only a small amount.

I don't care, my characters don't care. I'm not a bigoted person and because of that I find it hard for me to play as one.

My first successful character in Morrowind all those years ago was a Breton. Got to lvl 71 after 2 years of playing. I believe what ever Mer they had in them has long since been completely diluted or bred out. Their affinity to magick one could put down to being one of the few races that have made it a pivotal part of their lives. Merely reinforcing the mythos of their origins. Sort of like myself, My heritage is Roman. But does that make me roman?
