CTD in certain locations - what else can I try? : V

I have about 100 hours into the game. I more or less the same mods running since December, with some upgrades recently (late February, early March). Recently, my game developed instability - predictable CTD - whenever I went near Karthwasten (far west corner of the map) or northeast of Windhelm (on the way to Hollyfrost farm). I had added and updated a bunch of mods recently, but could not find one that was causing the problem. I can't know when it happened, because I wasn't around those parts of the map very much in the past month or so.

Also: I had a dead Hagraven fall out of the sky in Karthwasten for no apparent reason. Then, later, a live Hagraven was in Aerin's house in Riften.

First, I tried alternatively disabling / re-enabling mods one by one to see if one was clearly to blame. Nothing worked, so I decided to abandon my most recent saves and go back in time.

(1) I deleted all the NEW mods, reverted to a save that was before NEW mods, but after a few UPGRADES. All my saves crashed in the same spots. I deleted all the saves that included the NEW mods.

(2) I loaded Wrye Bash (first time using it) and looked at the most recent save (from before the NEW mods). It showed a few mods in Red ("Missing Master"). I added all those mods back in (with their updated versions) and matched the same load order as it was in the original save (including BOSS). However, when I loaded the save, I still got "some content is missing."

(3) I went to an empty player home, put all my gear in a chest, did Console--&--#62;PCB, waited 30 days, did Console--&--#62;PCB again, created a new save, and fast traveled to near Windhelm. (still naked with no weapons) I got further than was previously able to, but it still crashed at Hollyfrost Farm.

Some notes:

My PC specs are 3570K / 8GB / 7970 Ghz Edition. RAM usage during Skyrim game never goes past ~3GB. Other games, like Sleeping Dogs / Saints Row III / KOA:Reckoning run at max settings with no problems.
My save file size is about 10MB.
I am using the latest version of Skyrim on Steam with all DLC
With Wrye Bash, a few mods files had changed their names with updates AND/OR I had selected slightly different versions of the mods (for example, with Climates of Tamriel, I selected brighter nights when I upgraded) since the original versions I had used. Does this matter?

So, what is the next step? What else can I try to regain stability with this save?
