So after playing Oblivion and Skyrim and reading nothing but glowing reviews for Morrowind, I thought I'd finally give it a shot. I haven't gotten far yet, being only level 4, but during my adventure I just happened to stumble into the Maren Ancestral Tomb, where Crazy Batou is located. I was happily going along, found and fought Crazy Batou and after a few tries managed to get his health down to half way. Then he did an odd thing and said "You win this round" before seemingly teleporting away. I looked around the rest of the tomb, couldn;'t find him, left and re-entered a few times with the same result. At first I didn't think too much of this, since I figured it was just a gimmick of this character, but after looking him up I found absolutely no mention of him teleporting away. I know there is a glitch with Batou being marked as an Essential Character when he isn't, but is he supposed to teleport away as well? Like I said, I've found absolutely no mention of him being able to or supposed to be able to do this, and I'm worried I might have just permanently lost one of the artefacts.

Might be a hold over from his days as a quest element. The quests surrounding this guy were cut from the game, so he is no longer needed for anything.

As for him going away, I have never spent much time battling him, he always died pretty quickly when I bothered to go to that tomb.
