(source page: https://code.google.com/p/gimp-dds/downloads/list) and installed it properly (drag and drop into C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins, do not exract as it says. error message).
Trying to think of any information that might be necessary to answer the coming question.

I hope I'm not missing anything. I don't want to waste tomorrow on this issue, too...
My problem: I made a weapon in Blender 2.49b, that will eventually go into Oblivion. I UV mapped a part I wanted to texture, and put it into Gimp 2.8, following multiple guides to do so as I went, making sure I did it all properly, and I was hoping that the download from the link above would allow Gimp to make my texture a .DDS file (I shouldn't have to point out that it has to be a .DDS file to go into Oblivion), but I continue to get the message, "You can use this dialog to save to the GIMP XCF format. Use File→Export to export to other file formats."
Now, I have also followed those instructions, but all it did was save what I'd done in Gimp, as a Gimp file. I double-click it, and it just opens up Gimp with my texture there... Seems useless, unless you want it to save progress you'll finish later.
That is the issue I wasted an entire day on, and an extended day at that... It's been so long since I've slept..
The other thing I haven't spent a lot of time on, is, once I do get Gimp to do as I want, how do I get Blender 2.49b to go along with it? What plugin do I need for Blender to be compatible .DDS files? At the moment, it's just as useless as Gimp is with them.
I hope my information and descriptions were detailed and useful. Thank you for your time. I'm off to hibernate. Please make my next day a successful one
