The Decision Is YOURS!

For me and many of my Fallout friends this has become a highly controversial topic in our lives. Which faction is best? I do not want to put this down to fire power alone so try to include other things E.G. companions, Armour and structure. Now obviously going solo seems like a good option (for me at least) as I prefer the lone wolf style, but then you have the strength of Ceasers legion, or the ability of the NCR. Off topic a bit I think and NCR ranger is worth about 3 1/2 legion troops or maybe 1-2 veterans. So if they have ( as referred to by the man in Ranger station charlie 'a couple of dozen' [lets say 48] rangers at any time that means around 168 legion troops.) whereas a legion veteran is worth 5 (from experience watching them fight) NCR troopers! and we know per group that along with the troops that are being brought in from Arazonia this is about 2x the amount of NCR troopers than legion recruits. Anyway back to the topic After failing at my attempts to survive Lone wolf style I took on the role as Legionary. This was... fruitful in truth. I soon learned that no matter what faction you choose there are always downfalls. After playing all factions at hoover dame I think that NCR are the worst and Mr House is the best with the legion 2nd and solo 3rd.

I still don't understand what you mean by "best" and "worst", is it military strength? Tactics? Spec ops missions? Territory? Gear? Training? Everything? The Mojave situation in particular or X in general?

I'm sure my post will immediately have people that disagree, but I think for the MOST PART, people that've been around this forum for ages mostly agree that Indy and House are the best. I list those two and not just one because Indy and House are on opposite ends of the political spectrum, and some people simply don't like House but can understand and respect why others would at least, and the exact same goes for Indy.

Often times it simply seems as though Indy and House have similar benefits to NCR and Legion respectively, but can provide those benefits better. For example Caesar's Legion can also provide stability, but House can do it better. Caesar's Legion can provide progress, but House can do it better. NCR can provide freedom, but Indy can do it better. And it's very difficult to say "yes but the NCR provides more security than Indy" when we can already clearly see all these communities throughout the Mojave properly defending themselves WITHOUT the help of the NCR; no, the Kings or Westside couldn't protect themselves from the Legion, but once the Second Battle for Hoover Dam is gone, the Legion is out of the picture, and yes, those communities can clearly survive without the NCR's protection. The Strip has the securitrons, Freeside has the Kings, Westside has it's militia and communities like Jacobstown and Nellis hardly need protection. FFS, it's possible for the Courier to handle the entire Fiend and Powder Ganger organizations better than the entire NCR....

So yeah, House and Indy, for the most part. They share much of the same style and benefits of the Legion and NCR, but often do a better job at providing them.
