Unique Enchantments Useful Due to Patch 1.9?

Post » Mon Mar 25, 2013 12:58 am

The Dark Brotherhood has a set of the normal armor you get from them that is enchantment free. So for anyone in that role you can use that armor with your own enchantments.

Yes, but those come with the rather dumb penalty of not being upgradeable via smithing.

Also, why aren't there unenchanted Shrouded Robes?

I think I get your idea @Threadstarter but from my side there are some other problems restricting me from using unique weapons and armors.
They look ugly (not all, but those which don't are useless ^^) and because there are only a few there are no choices.

Compare it to morrowind. There are so many (unleveled!!!) good artifacts why also looks cool and even if they are not that powered I used them for style like the BiPolar blade. But why use unique weapons with unique enchants when they are useless and don't look good? Why use Auriels Bow when you have no stats problems? Instead of cost reduce for magic schools I would replace them with +one/two handed/range combat enchantments

Sure, just from the stats Dragonborn DLC mask become more useful but, damn they look so ugly. Like all the other dragonpriest mask. Thats why I don't consider them to wear, even if they boost my damage by 500%.

Edit: Ah and I forget one of the most important things why even with 9999% stats in everything enchants like reducing magicka costs won't disappear or be less useful. They effect enchantments too even when you use the unofficial patch (so it seems like this is how it should be) so you don't need to bother reloading them with soul stones with is just a bother then a useful addition to the game (like it was with repairing your armor in previous TES games)

Ya im not saying its perfect, its far from it. I had noticed you couldn't upgrade at a table and it was a little of a let down.

However, it's easy to recharge a weapon. No enchantment will ever be useless, but effects that were previously considered gimmicks may become genuinely useful. Miraak's Robes for example. I've seen it proc when turning into a VL or using firestorm. In fact, it can proc several times per second. I could personally see builds built entirely around destruction spells that set off Miraak's Robes several times in order to do massive damage. Again, it's a gimmick that could end up being extremely powerful.

Surely it is easy to recharge weapons. It was easy to recharge enchanted stuff and repairing in easier games too but it was sort of annyoing.

But again Miraaks stuff look ulgy BUT I was glad his weapon was at least animated, a thing I missed a long time (remember the two weapons from Tribunal?).

Maybe the chest slot is the only one at the moment for unique stuff to replace enchantet stuff because it is the less useful

I think they need to just go and get every weapon and armor in the game and make it available for use without enchantments on it, Also Every enchantment in game no matter what it is should be available for use.

I don't think so actually. The unique enchantments on artifacts have too low of a magnitude to be useful once you reach a high level. Using legendary to boost your level higher makes them even more obsolete. In the end people will just use them based on aesthetics, just like before. Be

This.

Unique enchantments do not suddenly get usefull just because other enchantments are broken and now Bethesda breaks leveling and balance completely.

Not entirely sure I follow your thread of logic. As health, magicka, etc. goes to infinity, certain enchantments will naturally become meaningless. However, certain unique enchantments may become more useful, or retain their usefulness at these high levels. Other unique enchantments may not.
