Necromancers Assemble!

Post » Mon Mar 25, 2013 7:36 am

Okay, so I want to start a necromancer character soon, but I have NO clue what to do before all the resurrection spells are available. Also what race should I do, and what equipment should I use? Thanks for the help!

My necromancer character is a Vampire Lord Breton that looks just like Lord Harkon (Lord Harkon is a Breton).

You can get a raise zombie spell very early in the game.
Spoiler
Right after Helgen in Riverwood, the general trader has a spell book.
Any race can be a necromancer but Bretons start with the highest conjuration skill and Altmer start with extra 50 magick.

Choose Altmer as a matter of principle :D

Is Conjuration your main school? Highly inconvenience, IMO, since dead are generally pretty weak at low level and are only reliable as distractions. Consider having that as a secondary school and pick some other school or a combat skill as your main offensive. Typical offensive stuff like One Handed or Destruction is fine... But I recommend Illusion and Sneak if you like to roll with style! Illusion is a blast, and a fitting offensive spell schools for the necromancer-manipulator build. If you max out Illusion and be a vampire then your dual cast expert Illusion spells would affect literally ALL enemies beside dragons

I would recommend Don't worry about equipment, just get your Enchanting skill max out and then you customize your own gear.

Saxhleel necromancer, with conjuration as my main skill, a little restro, alteration, enchanting, and destruction. And focus more heavily on conjuration, with the undead perks being the sole focus.

Agreeing with the people saying you should get Raise Dead in Riverwood. I think Farengar Secret-Fire, Whiterun's Court Wizard, also often has the spell.

You also might want to check out the The Ritual standing stone; it's like a once-a-day storm of corpse raising badassery, exempt from usual limits. I've rezzed about twenty Draugr at once with it, Giants, Mammoths... It lasts for a couple of minutes, too, so it's a nice panic button or ambushing masterstroke for that necromantic feel.
Oh, and if you want to raise Conjuration quickly, cast Soul Trap repeatedly on a dead body.

32 chickens is my record. How'd I get them in one pile? I used a wheelbarrow. Hardest thing I've ever done, but one of the most pathetic and hilarious assaults on Markarth I've ever tried.

Sounds like the story of someone who ends up dying alone in cave. Just like that guy who wanted to create an army of Skeevers in one the thieves quests :D

On topic: Are you playing on PC or console? Im playing a modded Skyrim so my advices wont be useful for the vanilla game.
