Markarth and its people

Post » Thu Mar 28, 2013 5:31 am

SO I've seen in quite a few polls and such that Markarth is really low down on the favorites list. I understand that Markarth doesn't have much in the way of shops but what reason was popping up even more has really surprised me. My experience in Markarth has been great. Out of all the holds I think Markarth easily has the nicest people and a wonderful environment. Vlindrel Hall is dark...but It's my favorite non-hearthfire house. If you found the people of Markarth different how so? What was your experience like?

I like Markarth, love the player home there, I think it's the best. What I really, really don't like is being forced to start a far-reaching quest as soon as I enter the city; "Hey, snow-back, it's not my note!"

I know right? I guess I sort of just wrote that off as it seems to happen quite a bit. Forced quests cluttering my journal are aggravating but I sort of starting subconciouslly filtering them out from an RP perspective.

I know you can just choose not to read the 'note', but that's immersion breaking.

True enough.

It makes me yearn for Morrowind, when you could kill any NPC who annoyed you, regardless of whether it ruined your game or not!

I hate Markarth. Too many rocks. Ugly people (except Muiri and Senna), and it corrupt.

I really like the scale of it, though. For me it's the city most worthy of its predecessors in the series.

Yup.

Markarth has:
- svck ass Jarl, both of them.
- Corrupt guards.
- Inhumane prison system.
- Most ignorant, stuck-up inhabitants in Skyrim.
- Forsworn Terrorists.
- Even the damn barmaids want someone dead.
- The temple of Dibella is boring as hell, in contrast to what they were in Daggerfall ( :hubbahubba:) and what they're hinted to be by NPCs.
- Silver-bloods, which are more arrogant than the Black-Briars could ever hope to be.
- Cannibals.
- House used to worship one of the worst Daedra, in middle of the whole damn city and no one cares.
- Forsworn Conspiracy is by far the buggiest quest in the game.

What else? The list could go on and on and on...

Hmmmmmm. Except for the bugs I see no problem here. :3 it's waaay more interesting than Morthal or Falkreath. The only one that you brought up that I had not thought about that bugged me was the Daedric house, but it seems to have been something that was just discovered when you arrive.
