Game constantly crashing Resolved 4GB Enabler

Post » Fri Mar 29, 2013 2:13 am

I've been getting constant crashes for the past few days on my modded game. I've tried the ini file tweaks, BOSS, and even FO3 edit to try and fix this crashing and have come up empty handed. The only common link I can see is the crashing always occurs out in the wasteland.

I thought for sure the ini tweak would work to stop crashing, considering it's what everyone has recommended. It simply hasn't worked for me. Could have something to do with me having an 8-core CPU?

Specs:
AMD FX 8320
Radeon HD 7850

I can post my load order, although I highly doubt this is a load order issue. It's been sorted by BOSS and FO3 edit turns up no errors whatsoever. I'm going to try the unofficial FO3 patch and see how that goes. I'll report back.

I didn't try the unofficial patch, but I just tried setting affinity for 4 out of the 8 cores for Fallout 3 and it seems to have worked for the moment. I'll post back later

This seems like classic symptoms of running a Win-32 game on a Win-64 rig.

If you're still getting crashing, try using a Large Address Aware Enabler (google it, NMC has a good one on Fallout Nexus), and tweak your ININ to run Fallout on no more than 2 cores. Guides to both are peppered throughout these forums.

You're totally right. Re-ran the Large Address Aware Enabler again and it seems to have stopped the crashing so far. Odd though, one of the first mods I downloaded when installing FO3 was the LAAE mod. I must have did it wrong the first time.

Thanks again.
