Why the gripe with TES Wiki?

Post » Sun Mar 31, 2013 1:32 am

I see that this 'source' of 'information' is hugely hated on with TES fans. And I was wondering why?

I hear that they are wrong and such, but are there any more detailed points as to why they're hated besides being 'incorrect'. About what things? And do they have some kind of attitude where they don't like being corrected?

I'm not entirely sure if this is suitable for the TES Lore forums, but it's kinda relevant, I spose :P

They have gotten better AFAIK, such as cleaning up the monkey truth stuff that was being passed off as canon/truth as well as correcting mistakes. Still a unreliable source, just not as much as before.

It takes information directly from the UESP which has been around since Daggerfall era.
Forces adverts down your throat
Again, information is typically wrong.
Tend to have a knitted group of 'must be right guys'. I actually corrected some info about Lucien Lachance including him being named Listener for some reason. Despite providing a source of his dialogue after editing the page, 2 days later, it was changed to its original state.

I dislike them only because of their association with Wikia. I've never really been a fan of Wikia, and the Oasis incident only solidified my feelings of ill will towards the company. And speaking of Oasis, the formatting still svcks.
