They canceled the development due to money problems. Bethesda will be developing a multiplayer FPS like Call of Duty, instead.

Except your edit came after my post...and it has gotten old. Most of these 'pranks' aren't very smart, just copies of the others with a slightly different message (no TES VI, no new DLC, etc).
