Fallout-textures.bsa install issue

Post » Tue Apr 02, 2013 1:55 pm

I just got Fallout 3 recently, and like most of us, I ran home and tried to install it immediately. Then lo and behold, halfway during the install, I get this message: CRC error: "The file C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\Fallout - Textures.bsa doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted; contact your software vendor."

I don't know why it would not match the cab file, and I don't see how the cab file could be corrupted, the game installed on the other computer in the house just fine (which is not as upgraded as my own personal computer). Does anyone have any clue on how to fix this? I've been driving myself mad trying to come up with a fix to this.

Disk may be scratched, dvd drive may be broken.

Check for scratches or dust on the disk. Try it on another computer if able just to be sure. Try other disks on your computer having the issue. Swap DVD drives and try.

You got a defective disc - CRC errors indicate corrupted media files. Try taking it back to the store where you bought it from to exchange it.
