I know you can do it with Enchanted Weapons, but I think I should be able to name my trusty unenchanted sword "Stabby McStabbison".

For your sword's sake I'm glad we can't do this.

But yes, I've often thought of this as well.

You can name your refer to your weapon as stabby even though you dont have the name ingame

I've actually used the enchantment system to do this very thing before. I just put a weak enchantment on it and let it run out of charges. Even though I usually play mages and mage hybrids, I've never had a character who was actually skilled in enchanting. Never really cared for creation systems in any game I've ever played.

I'd name my war ax Hacky McHackison and my battle axe Choppy McChoppison.

Would be nice if you were able to name your weapon when you make it in the forge, same for armor etc.
Heck, maybe even for potions just for the fun of it. I'd call my healing potion: ''Grandmother's lovely soup''.

Nope, but weapon with the name of someone else's tale does not add a personal touch to it as giving it a name of your own would.
