I Love the Legion, but Hate the Thalmor

Post » Wed Apr 03, 2013 7:01 pm

I'm just wondering if there's anyone else who has that dilemma. Many side with the Stormcloaks based on their dislike of the Thalmor, but I side with the Empire and hate the Thalmor just as much as they do. I actually make routine visits to the Thalmor Embassy and butcher everyone I find. If I see a group of Thalmor on the road, I take them all out. I also kill the Thalmor I find in Markarth.

The hatred is perhaps born of the fact that they hate the Empire and went to war with them, thus putting them in the state that they're in, so I hate them. That and the fact that they're completely anti-Man, so even if they had no history with the Empire whatsoever, I'd dislike them still.

Also, Tullius hints that there may be a Second Great War, and Thalmor documents label the first war as "The First Great War", implying that there will be one or more other wars, so I hope for the chance to play a role in this next war and take them down.

I was just wondering if anyone was in the same position that I'm in.

Everyone hates the Thalmor.

We're just bulding our strength and making preperations.

Ulfric himself in the "Season Unending" quest in the MQ. Made directly to Elenwen.

I may be Pro-Empire, but that was also my favorite thing about Ulfric.

Like it or not, you have to be friendly with the Thalmor since you are in the Legion which follows the rule of the Empire. The Empire decreed that Talos worship is illegal and the Thalmor are doing the job the Empire allowed them to do with the White-Gold Concordant. According to the Empire, they aren't breaking any rules and thus can't be interfered since the Empire and Thalmor are at peace and the Empire doesn't want to start the war anytime soon. You choose to side with the Empire and thus have to follow their rules which includes allowing the Thalmor to do their duty. Choices have consequences, so you have to deal with it.

I don't "love" the Legion, but my Nord siding with the Stormcloaks had more to do with the Thalmor than any hatred of the Empire. My Nord couldn't side with the Empire, as that would have meant that the Thalmor would have continued doing as they pleased in Skyrim, as well as continuing their Talos ban.

My main in Oblivion was an Imperial and proud of it.

The Empire isn't exactly in love with them either, they're just waiting until they have a plan to take them on besides the Nord Strategem...Attack at it wantonly until it's not living anymore and pray for the best.

Tolerating and being friendly to are two different things.

And yes, the Thalmor can be interfered with by those loyal to the Empire. The Jarl of the Reach at the start of the game is on the side of the Imperials, but still interferes with the Thalmor's operations by not giving them support or free reign.

And since the Thalmor may still send hitmen after you even if you've joined the Legion, I think it's fair to say that it's open season on their agents when there aren't any witnesses.

Oh yeah, I remember that. I've only done that quest once, because I tried to be fair with Ulfric, and Tullius always got mad at me, so I don't waste my time with it anymore.

But the thing is that, at least within the limits of the game, I can do whatever I want to the Thalmor and not face any penalty from the Empire. So technically, I can do whatever I want. Were the game scripted to be more detailed in these types of affairs, then it would be a different story.
