Adjust the red

Post » Wed Apr 03, 2013 4:29 pm

I haven't tested it since the patch, but I know before this latest patch, it worked:

Adjust the red phase of your RGB output in your Catalyst Control Center (AMD) or Nvidia Control Panel up about 10-25 pts above the other values (leave these at defaults).

Watch "cloaked" enemies stick out like sore thumbs thanks to the "translucent" color palette so-called "cloak" has been given.

Let the fun ensue.

EDIT: Allow me to clarify: You have to adjust the red channel of your RGB output for your monitor. Once that's been tweaked up, "cloaked" players glow like roman candles. It's quite ridiculous, actually. Just gone done testing it. It still works like a charm. Though, with the new AMD drivers, this means tweaking the color kelvins and the color balance so that the reds are slightly brighter (more tweaking required than adjusting per channel). But, yeah, it works.

Hopefully, Crytek will check this, realize their folly and fix it poste haste and remove the idiotic color shading from cloak so this junk stops happening.

The red tinge is a nice touch, maybe you hadn't played Crysis 2 where the players where 95% transparent; although i agree with you that people are going to abuse this exploit, this game should not be played on the premises of only Cloak .

And yes, the previous version of cloak was indeed Broken, what people forget is the skill ratio just isnt there, what i mean is a player in C2 has to be very disciplined to spot cloakers, yet all a player in C2 had to do was press a button to engage cloak with zero penalties in doing so.

There were equivalents to this in Crysis 2, though it required hacks + tweaking the driver and was solved by locking the engine and booting invalid textures (though it did make exporting C1 maps into C2 difficult) and getting AMD/Nvidia to release new drivers that enforced the proper model textures and saturation levels.
