What do you want the Skyrim to be like?

Post » Sat Apr 03, 2010 9:02 pm

What do you guys feel?

Let me Explain The elder scrolls "Generations"

First generation - The main way to level up is to kill things were XP is gained by Each Kill. There are and Attributes that get leveled up and changed as you progress. Very Large, but possibly under detailed games.

Second generation - Main way to level up is to increase your Major or Minor Skills. Attributes and skills level up, but skills are capped at 100 unless using enchanted items or such. Not as Large Scale as it's predecessors but much more detailed with all unique NPCs that you can interact with.

Third Generation - Maybe Skyrim will turn the way we see TES upside down

I want Skyrim... to be... like... Skyrim.

But that's a really pointless thread, there is no way it will come back to the procedually generated landscapes in Daggerfall or become a linear RPG. It will always be like Oblivion and Morrowind, the best of what Open-ended and sandbox games have to offer with everything good an RPG has.

Oh... wait, I want XP leveling, it's less confusing and works better.

It should perfect the sandbox formula of Morrowind and Oblivion.

Get rid of the scaled leveling and the then useless level aspect. We have an equal number of skills (If we keep the same skills from Oblivion) for each attribute so just make skills levels determine attribute levels. If you get better with a sword you should get physically stronger. This way we can just use a few simple formulas to designate attribute levels and HP, MP, and fatigue.

Keep major and Minor, have going up a level be based off of gaining a total amount of XP. Using Major skills to do something gives more XP then minor. Get rid of + watever system and just give 2 or 3 +1s to your attributes. get rid of Leval Scaling. This way you can still level up skills normaly. Your major and minor skills effect the speed of levaling due to worth. Attibutes will go up when leveling and since there is no scaling you dont have to worry about being BSed by the game and if something is too hard for you level up through training. Oh and add ores so we can upgrade weapons at a black smith.

Also what you do would have different XP worths. So killing that big monster worth 100000XP would get you 1200000 for killing it with a major skill or something like that.

I want something new. TESIII was good for that game. TESIV had skills, but, with the lack of dice rolls, I felt that skills didn't weren't important enough for success. Due to the lack of mainstream enthusiasm for dice rolls, I think the entire skill and attribute system needs to be revised and overhauled.

I like TES's "learn by doing" method of increasing skills, I would like that core component to remain the same. Perhaps applied to attributes, too?

This, but it needs some thinking. For example; what would raise luck? Gambling? Your on the right track though, we need a simplified yet efficient level system, without a majority of leveled enemies. Also we cant have leveled uniques either in my opinion. Nothing like getting Shadowhunt at level 4 and it being useless by 10. You could implement a way to raise the unique item to your level by placing it on a rack etc. Like you could with the Crusader Armor in KOTN.

imo it doesnt need to be anything like Oblivion, to me was just a large space of nothing much moving around minus the dept of Morrowind and Daggerfall, not saying I want skyrim to be like that either, Skyrim needs to be its own beast so that we can start arguing which is better, Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall.

Know whats epic?

Morrowind

Oblivion

Daggerfall

Skyrim.

that just define sixyness, and I couldnt be more elaborate on what Im talking about.

and this question has been asked to DEATH, so unless your looking for some thread count or something use the search engine if you are -actually- curious as to what we think.

Todd's still in charge, so I think Skyrim may very well be part of the second generation.

I'm pretty sure Skyrim will still be relatively in-line with Morrowind and Oblivion. There was one interview with Todd - I can't find it anywhere, however, where he mentioned something about their then-unannounced project and how it was going to have some new dynamic elements never seen before in their games. I think it was dated in the autumn or late summer of last year.

I would like Skyrim to be it's own game.
Obliviously it will have both features from Morrowind and Oblivion but I hope with the revealing of more information people will stop comparing it to past games.

Each Elder Scrolls game is it's own generation, I believe. Beth doesn't really do minor advancements, it seems. Each game is a total reinvention of the series. It'll be interesting to see if that's even possible these days though.
