Massive war for TES VI

Ok I was thinking instead of something like stormcloaks and imperials we have an actual civil war instead of this rebellion in skyrim. I think it should go like this you start off as no one and work your way up the ranks and this time your rank grants you new features and dialogue. And instead of just hitting legate, you could go to general and higher, all the way up to the throne.

Now before some of you start bit--Ching and griping about being stuck to a throne, once you hit the officer ranks it's completely voluntary on whether or not you want to move up any higher and whether you do or not does not stop progression in the questline, and this time it's more of a occupation than something to do just so you can kill sh-it. You get paid daily for being in service and your rank gives you a bonus, along with successful sieges.

Back to the rank structure, ever get tired of just sitting there as a legate and you have an entire fort full of your guys and a full enemy encampment down the road but didn't want to do it alone? Why not command an assault on the objective, or set up your own encampment not to far away from the enemy and start working to take over a hold or a well guarded village.

Things like this imo would have made the civil war questline so much better, I also have 2 more ideas. You know how general tullius and Rikke in the beginning just put stuff on the map and watch it happen, I'd like that as well, for times when your god I'm tired of déjà vu, order the attack and watch to see if you'll be successful or fail, nothing too complex though. The last one is having men garrison an old fort.

You know how your just out and a about and you run by this fort full of mages and clear it out, but at the same time it's the perfect position to set up and ambush enemies transporting prisoners. Also before I here people bit--Ching about npcs getting in the way it's just an option to order the attack no ones stopping you from being Rambo. Like I said it's just some ideas for TES VI and to improve on skyrims so called civil war that was damn near pointless doing.

Although I do like the idea of becoming an officer and actually getting paid for military service, the throne is too much. It completely defies the whole TES experience, as TES is all about adventuring and exploring, not ruling a realm.

But there is no connection (at all) between being Legate and assuming the throne!
The latter is royalty; the former is a public servant.
Good to see you're thinking about future developments though, Velar...
The game world and lore is quite compelling, and a wonderful canvas for authors/storytellers to work on. :)

your first TES? The Nerevarine becomes a demi-god, The Champion of Cyrodiil eventually sits on the throne of the mad god himself, not to mention a stirng of other titles and honours that require you to do nothing at all but bark orders. As for the OP, Oblivion had a great mod, servant of the dawn, kicked in upon the completion of the main quest, I believe it was far longer than the MQ too. It involved rising in the ranks of a certain faction etc... lots of choices to make that had an effect on where things where going too. Eventually "The war of the Dragon" would start. You had to manage troops, defend your strongholds etc... with the very real fear of failing it all. If you play oblivion or have not, i highly recommend it, along with Servant of the dawn and Oscuros oblivion overhaul.

Yeah, that stuff happened after the game ended. In oblivion you don't get to actually sit on the throne and rule the Shivering Isles, do you? (I never played Shivering Isles)
