Go to a merchant in any city. Some will only buy certain things, while they General Goods mechant will buy everything. They do have a set amount of gold so don't expect to sell everything to that one person. Since you're new, go to Riverwood or Whiterun.

You can sell stuff to the Blacksmith Alvor and other stuff to Lucian at the Riverwood Trader both in Riverwood.

In Whiterun, you can sell to the Blacksmith Addrianne at the front gate, the Drunken Huntsman in front of the Smith, Belethor in the marketplace, and Eorland up at the Skyforge.
