Astrid = Idiot

Seriously. She brought her downfall on herself for breaking the tenents when they weren't even that strict to begin with. Unless you're planning a coup, they're pretty much impossible to break with the way Astrid had the place set up. Which is exactly what she tried to do.

She let her jealousy and desire for control get the best of her, which led her into breaking damn near all of the five.

All she did was stop worshiping the Night Mother and Sithis. Just as well since Sithis isn't a god, just the concept of change and chaos - Padomay, and there's evidence to support that the Night Mother is just Mephala.

You're forgetting how she tried to kill other members, revealed the location of the Brotherhood to the Empire, and a myriad of other things.

She got what was coming to her for dishonoring the night mother/Mephala. Plus betrayed the brotherhood to outside sources.

Lets not forget the whole brotherhood questline in both oblivion and skyrim is pretty much showing you how mephala's sphere works.

Astrid didn't try to kill the others, she just wanted to get you killed. Maro ended up backstabbing her so that led up to the other's deaths.a

She's one reason why I like the Brotherhood story line so much.

You're right in the middle of it all, doing only what you're called to do and always approaching everything with complete honesty. You're the golden boy or girl dumped in her lap, the one person for whom they'd been waiting, and you can do nothing but sit back and watch as she pulls the whole thing apart while simultaneously trying to prevent it's collapse. It's a tragic tale for her, and though I'm playing a part within an assassin's guild I felt that my hands were clean in the end.

Through it all I liked how she was written. All the time she spent plotting and planning in order to protect her own from the enemy she perceived was you but all she accomplished was to dig her own grave (along with several others). All she had to do was have a little faith. I kinda felt sorry for her at the final sacrament.

That and Babbette is just awesome.
