I was just thinking about this as I started up Skyrim. I bought Dragonborn, but of course I'm not going to like it and probably won't play it more than once, if I even do. The story in Skyrim is bad. It was bad in Oblivion, too. I agree that Morrowind was better than both of them, but even that was just "ok". Dawnguard and Hearthfire were a step in the right direction. It added in content that had nothing to do with the main storyline. It would be nice if whoever was in charge of creative over at Bethesda would nix the idea of a compelling story (because they svck at it) and instead just focus on content that expands the game. No one buys Fallout or TES for the story. If they can do it right, that's great, but it would be nice if they just focused on what makes their games popular; open-ended gameplay. People have wanted to see a TES game with more than one area to explore for a long time. They should focus less on making your character some awe-inspiring celebrity figure, and instead focus on other aspects of the land... like the war. Let us explore places outside of Skyrim, and maybe they can focus the story on the infinitely more interesting war between the Empire and Dominion.
