Playing as a pure ranger...

Post » Tue Apr 09, 2013 2:10 am

After watching Lord of the rings, I now want to roleplay a ranger like Aragorn. No fast travel, just a bow and a claymore. I was not wanting to wear light armour but it would not be practical without it I don't think. What light armour has a ranger feel to it? I have HF And DB dlc. I will rarely travel to cities.
What skills should I need?
-Archery
-Sneak
-2H
-Alchemy
-Light armour

Anything else?

I was thinking of just building a small house in Falkreath with the hearthfire dlc (No main hall)
Does any one know of a good cave to set up in? (bed, Cooking pot, maybe a grinding stone or something)

I play on xbox but I just recently built a computer with a gtx 660 Ti which is more than capable of playing skyrim, Should I just get skyrim on pc? (so much mods that add to the game!), anyone know of any good mods for a ranger?

For some reason Thieve's guild armor kinda looks like what he would wear for obvious reasons.

Well, I wouldn't buy Skyrim again for the PC just for one build. But ... Skyrim on the PC is awesome no matter what you play.

I did a search for Ranger at Nexus and got about a 100 hits, so yes, there are plenty of Ranger mods out there.

Thieves armor would look good, but so would just Leather, but you would have to add Smithing Perks and skills to get it upgraded for good enough AR for late game. Other than adding that I think the skills you picked are just right. I think you can justify Smithing since a Ranger would have to know how to take care of his equipment.

I would. In fact, Skyrim inspired me to build a PC. I didn't build it just for Skyrim, but it caused me to start thinking about building one in the first place. I have the game for Xbox and I not only bought Skyrim for the PC, but I also bought all my favorite games that I have on Xbox..like, the entire FO series and all of TES.

Even if one has it for the console, they are really selling themselves short if they do not get it for their PC as well. You don't even need to get used to a KB and mouse. Just plug in the Xbox controller to a USB port and start playing. :tops:

With a somewhat matching hood:
