Real economy in Skyrim

Why is it that a potion, no mater how useless, is extremely profitable as long as it has at least one high number in its effects? For example, if I make a potion of "Restore health 200 points and poison 201 points" it technically means it's a poison of 1 point; yet it sells for like 1000 gold! It gets worse though, potions with next to no use "Feather 100 points for 300 seconds" are just as expensive as their restore health equivalent. Why? Restore health would be a much more practical and in demand potion, so why isn't that more expensive while the useless one is dirt cheap?
