Double Enchantments

Post » Wed Apr 10, 2013 7:10 am

I've nearly reached level 100 Enchantment and so have been thinking about what enchantments I want to put on my items when I have taken the perk and collected enough Grand Soul Gems.

I have a couple of questions regarding the double enchantment perk:

If I create an item with only one enchantment, does adding a 2nd enchantment lower the 1st? eg. Lets say I can create an item with either 40% fire resistance or 40% frost resistance; if I want to create an item with both of these effects then would they both still be 40% or do you lose a little by having two effects and therefore the item would have both at say 30%?

The mage robes already have 2 enchantments (lower magic cost and magic regen); even though this is already 2 effects, can you use this and add another effect at the same time which is sort of like having 3 effects at once?

While we are on the subject of double enchantments; what are everyones favourite enchantments to mix together?

Adding an second enchantment will not affect the first and both can be max strength for the soul.
Only downside of using two enchantments is that weapons will discharge faster but can also do multiple damages.

Just to be clear, you can't add a 2nd enchantment to a pre-existing enchanted item.

And 'favorite' enchantments are dependent on character type. If I'm playing a pure mage, I'm going to use fortify destruction & Conjuration 4x each so I can cast spells from those schools with zero magicka cost. If I'm playing a warrior of some sort, I'm probably going to want lots of health & stamina regen w/ some elemental resistances. Archers can't go wrong w/ muffle, fortify archery, stamina & stamina regen.

But again, like everything else in the game, it's all subjective. 9/10 people can say ____ is the best way to do something, but if it's not in your wheelhouse or comfort zone, chances are it won't matter
