Rate the final boss fight

Post » Fri Apr 12, 2013 10:10 pm

A few weeks ago was the last time I played C3. I'm no quitter, I enjoy the hard fights and even though that Ceph Mastermind did my head in, I prided myself in kicking his ass in the end and had lotsa fun in the process.

But how exactly do you manage to enjoy the Alpha Ceph encounter? Can someone enlighten me? It has to be the most annoying boss fight I've ever come across in all the games I've played so far, and C3 is the only game I've given up on completing.

I liked the boss fight, because it gave you one big boss, similar to Crysis 1 and Warhead, plus it gave you the small waves of "minibosses". Allowed the player to have a god mode at the end of the game for the only time in the series. It was fitting. However I think the Alpha Ceph was very easy, and the real challenge was the uhm I think Mind Carrier, it was the guy who had the other little guys surrounding him that you had to kill before you could hurt him. To beat the Alpha ceph, keep moving, especially when it says Onslaught Predicted. Beating the Alpha Ceph almost feels linear, but I like how it doesn't end with Prophet's death like so many other big stories the protagonist dies, ala Mass Effect.

That thing was a bossfight?

I played on Veteran difficulty, I simply kept moving and getting those energy pod thingies that make you unkillable and breezed through it. Maybe I was supposed to play on post-human warrior for it to be a slight challenge *shrug*

The hardest part about that fight was making it through to the end without the game glitching/crashing.

The way to make it through the boss is pretty simple. Whenever the Alpha Ceph does his spinning drills attack (which kills you instantly), jump to the second floor of the ring (for most of the ring but not all of it, there is a lower part in the outer side).

The Ceph's drill attack will go on the top floor and you'll make it through unscathed.

I'd rate it a 3/5. It wasn't AMAZING, but it was very welcome in a world in which "FPS" and "Bossfight" are becoming increasingly difficult to see in the same sentence.

I could easily skip the stupid drill, after all I always skip the Rannoch Reaper's beam with no difficulty on Insanity, however it's too damn dark in there and I can't see where I CAN jump or run. it's like one tiny platform and with the godamn screen shaking like crazy I can barely see a thing. where I THOUGHT I could go too often ends up being a bottomless drop.

effin annoying is what it is.

*edit* meh doesn't even matter really, I never liked Prophet anyway so I couldn't care less about him surviving or otherwise. actually I never liked ANY of the characters in the Crysis universe. they're certainly no Javik or Kaidan or that pizza delivery Volus, or that salarian guarding Wrex on Sur'kesh that doesn't appreciate finding out salarian livers were a delicacy in Javik's cycle (my avatar lol).
Story never really captivated me either, I only played the games because I like big explosions and pretty graphics.

I'll just leave the game unfinished, I'm not missing out on anything noteworthy. and I'm STILL glad I only paid 25 bucks for my copy, it ain't worth much more than that.

Crysis 3, that's enough!! You disappoint me. Not very wise.*

I'm not a fan of boss fights in general but I think the one in Crysis 3 was better-done than the one in Crysis 1

The maximum nanosuit battery things are kinda overpowered though, it's more fun not to use them

heh he certainly is one of the most memorable villains in movie history. I hope the rumor that he reprises the role in the third film is true. he might be much older now but in several Mortal Kombat games Shang Tsung has been portrayed as an old sorcerer, so he could certainly make it work.
