My thoughts on masterlegendary.

Here is the uesp page explaining difficulty: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:First_Time_Players#Difficulty_Settings

I see people talking about how easy master is and how much they love the legendary difficulty. To me it is pointless. If I smith a weapon to deal 66.6 damage on expert it will deal exactly the same damage as one that deals 100 damage on master or one that deals 200 damage on legendary.

Same principle with armor rating: as you wander around with 80% physical resistance at 667 armor rating on master, I wander around with around 36% physical resistance at 300 armor rating. Often I don't even have that on my characters.

Now I look at that and think why waste the perks? I can use my extra perks for bonuses that add something other than damage for a more varied character. I play on expert and I bet my game is harder than the people that craft strong weapons and armor on master/legendary. I usually play on master at the beginning of the game though, where it's rather easy.

To me the higher difficulties just make enemies damage sponges without heavy use of the crafting skills, just makes for tedious gameplay. On expert I can tailor my game to how I like, I like dealing moderate damage and taking relatively heavy damage from enemies. So skill is a necessity for survival.

It also makes spells/shouts with damage you can't modify more usable, fire breath and vampiric drain for example.

I often make hybrid characters with a specific look, so the extra perks are needed. My current character wears the archmages robes, dragonbone gauntlets, dragonbone boots and the ahzidal mask. Perfect dragonborn look in my opinion. Uses 2h (dragonbone greatsword), archery (dwarven crossbow) and destruction for damage. Although those are some of the best weapons you can craft, I use them mostly for the look (the sword looks great with the armor) and don't smith them much.

As I don't use many magicka reducing enchantments, the destruction spells deal incredibly high damage at a high magicka cost (the way I like it). Incinerate deals 130+ damage per single cast and fire storm a whopping 450+ at close range, with a hefty magicka cost. I'd need more fortify destruction enchantments to reduce the spell costs to use destruction on master/legendary.

Just my thoughts on the matter. I do appreciate if you play the game smithing daedric armor (which looks awful imo) at level 20 dealing hundreds of damage this thread will mean very little to you and you will welcome legendary difficulty. Just note before you make make comments emphasising you playing on master/legendary that it's relatively meaningless with max armor rating etc.

Thoughts?
