The side that best fits your ideals.

For me, I’m a Stormcloak supporter because I believe in freedom above all else. The Mede Empire isn’t the Septim Empire, which I was a tremendous support of once upon a time, and at fall of the Septim Empire the Proviences became independent, one by one including Skyrim. I’ve seen the argument ‘Skyrim has always been apart of the Empire’ and its simply not true, at least not in the sense that it was always by choice. The Mede Empire ruled by force, and it’s a common notion in Tamriel that might is right and especially in Skyrim. That very point however, means that any rebellious nave who can kill a king or raise an army has the right to challenge whatever power is at large.

To me, the Empire has lost what it was. The Mede Empire steps on Nordic right and tradition by interfearing in the Moot by declaring Ulfric a traitor and murderer when even Torygg’s Court says the battle between the two was a duel, not a murder and thus no law was even broken. At that, they ban Talos worship and expect the people to simply obey. I’ve seen it argued that the Empire was turning a blind eye to it, though it hardly makes sense to put in jepordy the peace that so many died for just so the Nords can have their God, but even then its not the point about strict enforcement for me, its about compromising your beliefs and those of your constiutents without their agreement.

To me, Ulfric seems genuine in his goal, but I don’t deny the flavor of power he gives off. I’m pretty certain he wants to be High King, but I also believe he believe that there is no other choice in the matter if Skyrim is to have the freedom it deserves.

Neither. Join the Dragon cult instead. Help restore Skyrim to it's true ancient old ways. Praise Alduin - son of Akatosh as the true God deserving of all praise. All this, and you can be a part of an ever-growing army of undead, True sons of Skyrim!

Obviously he was in the process of typing Jarl_Ulfric but his younger sibling changed the name and hit submit. :stare: :D

Whatever it is, don't believe a thing what people will tell you in this forum. Biased to the core, the whole lot of them. Myself included.

Play the game, read in-game books about the subjects, listen to people and follow your heart on which side is the best.
That's all I will say, that's all you need to know.

My reasons for joining the Stormcloaks are:

1. Being under Imperial influence has made them a shadow of what Skyrim once was, by their cultural influence and by relying on the Empire for military might.

2. Mede backed down too easy. After the war was ended in a stalemate, he should not have accepted the elves first offer for peace. At the very least, he could have called for a new treaty after he saw how the Thalmor failed in Hammerfell.

3. Ulfric is nothing like what the Imperial supporters including Balgruuf say he is. His cause is also a noble one, and from speaking to him personally, I see no evidence of a man hungry for the throne for the sake of power itself. I see a man who wants power to do what he thinks is right for his nation.

4. Ulfric seems like the leader Skyrim needs to make it strong again.

5. A stormcloak victory is every bit as viable as an Imperial one. I know this from the evidence the developers gave us through the dossier.

6. Trade will not stop after a Stormcloak victory between Skyrim and the Empire. It is too important for both nations, and our own history shows that nations who recently fought still trade afterwards if it is truly important for their country's survival. My motto is When it comes to countries, "Survival trumps grudges". Every time.

7. The Empire would have you believe that the Thalmor would invade Skyrim successfully without them, but if you study the map of Tamriel and look at its borders, natural borders, and know anything about invasions, you'd see that it is not possible unless the Thalmor take over the Empire first, which considering how strategic it is to have the Empire in front of Skyrim, no country would let that happen no matter how big the grudge is. Nords have fought alongside Dark Elves in history before, and much more blood was spread between them. There's no reason to believe that Skyrim wouldn't help the Empire when that endangers them as well.

8. As previously stated, an invasion from the Dominion just can't work on Skyrim. There's no nearby safe port for a naval invasion, which is essential. No invasion in real life history ever suceeded without a nearby safe port to receive supplies and reinforcements. And a land invasion wont work with the Empire in the way.

9. The Empire has shown through Hammerfell's treatment that they don't care about their people, and that their provinces are expendable.

10. The Empire's spirit is broken, and they are merely a shadow of what they once were. The last gasping breath of a dying man. When they crumble, I don't want Skyrim to be under them, because when they do fall, chaos will break out, and that will only hurt Skyrim if they are still heavily reliant on them.

Oh, and those idiots tried to cut off my head with no reason or proof of me being a Stormcloak.
