A beginners viewpoint...

So, I've played all the CoD titles for the PS3 each year they release a new one. Been playing BO2 since about release time...and now I'm sick of it. I've gradually been getting more tired of the game as weeks went bye, but now it's at a point where I hate it and hate the community even more. I'm not a noob at BO2 either, just getting tired of the same old CoD crap that they constantly put out just to make easy money, not having a single care for the community.

Anyways, so a couple days ago I picked up Crysis 3. I was deciding between either Far Cry 3 or Crysis 3...went with C3. I honestly WANT to like this game, but it's definitely a challenge:

First off, the player-base. Barely a dent compared to other shooters...which svcks, because I want to actually play C3 to get used to it more and get better...but it either takes forever to find a full lobby and when it does, you get host migrations that fail and send you back to the menu. At the time of typing this, there are only 1650 players online for the PS3...that's nothing...and that's at 11am EST...so you know most of that are overseas, which doesn't help with matchmaking for me. When it's early evening, half that amount will be online. Very disappointing, unfortunately.

Secondly, the challenges for beginners. I'm at rank 13 now and find myself in a slump due to the sub-par weapons/loadouts that are available to me. The weapons that are available have horrible recoil, which forces you to have to tap and shoot...which usually doesn't end well. The perks have barely any use for low levels like myself and barely give me any sort of advantage.

I really want to enjoy this game and keep playing, but it's certainly not making it easy on me. I could literally play BO2 for hours straight...with Crysis 3, I find myself getting tired of it after about an hour or so each gaming session. I either get horrible scores because my loadouts are trash since I'm low-level or I simply get tired of never being able to find a decent lobby...or having anyone playing on a different mode that's not TDM.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should be using for a loadout to maybe make it somewhat easier on me? I'm trying to level up faster to get the actual decent guns, but that's challenging when I always get crappy XP each map lol.

If you want to level up fast just go play objective based game modes like crash/spears. Tons of fun and you can get a lot of experience just playing the objective which really doesn't require high level modules or guns to compete. A basic awareness of where enemies are coming and just the shield or first level guns can get you by.

Besides, too many try hards using Auto Armor on the other modes anyway to take away the fun.

Also, if you can ever get into Maximum Deathmatch there isn't as much focus on modules which can level the playing field.

Use the Scarab until you unlock the Typhoon or FY7 1M. Once you get one of those you should stick with it (forsaking all other rifles) to get it fully loaded. Get the Reflex sight, Muzzle brake, and foregrip attachments. Then you'll be a recoil controlling machine. Actually there just won't be any recoil.

As soon as you can get Manuverability equip that. Jumping and fast sprinting will save you easily as often as Armor.

Get Retriever so you don't have to risk your neck out in the open collecting dogtags and it also gives you dogtag rewards in one less dogtag on tier 2. Radar every 2 kills :)

hope this helps

Yeah, I run into quite a few people using auto armor...hate that lol, but oh well.

But yeah, I've been trying to do more of the objective based modes, like crashsite/spears or hunter...but always hard to get a lobby going. I would honestly rather play Maxiumum TDM/DM as that's more equivalent to the hardcoe modes on CoD (I only played hardcoe in CoD), but there's usually never anyone playing those modes :(

Thanks, those tips will come in handy!

Yeah, I recently started using the FY71 w/ reflex sight and have been trying to level it up to get the muzzle brake and foregrip. The recoil on these guns without any of the attachments really is terrible. But as you said, with the other 2 attachments, it should be a nice setup for sure.

I guess it just comes down to leveling up quickly and unlocking the more useful guns/attachments/perks. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get there lol :)

I do really enjoy this game and hope it sticks around, because these types of games I actually enjoy...CoD games I just tolerated out of boredom and for the sake of playing with my buddies.

The FY7 1M is the 2nd best gun in my opinion. Scar mod 2 is the best. FY7 is like a baby Scar. Just make sure you're getting kills with the gun and not all the other ways until you get that muzzle brake and foregrip. That gun will be almost perfectly steady. Burst fire is still highly recommended on long distance targets no matter what attachment you have.

Have fun with this game man. Try new stuff. Then whenever you go back to CoD for a minute you can laugh at how slow it is. This game is boss. CoD is stale.
