Bodies shouldn't disappear but instead decompose

Bodies shouldn't disappear but instead decompose over time.

I just cleared out a bandit camp and threw one of the bandits off the mountain.

The dead bandit hit a rock then fell to the ground below with half his body in water and half on dry land.

I got to thinking that it'd be cool to come back later on and see his body decomposed to a skeleton.

I don't think the Elder Scrolls games will ever get too graphic but maybe there could be 3 stages of decomposition to a corpse.

Normal lifeless corpse -> Dried out Dragur looking -> Skeleton

I think it would help with immersion.

It's even worse when you realize you can find perfectly intact bodies of people who died decades ago in tombs.

Probably more trouble than its worth to program a code that has a three stage decomposition, especially when no one will be around to look at their final result.

Plus people would complain the skeletons are causing lag, because bones remain.

Spoiler
If do the Dark Brotherhood questline and get the token and get your fortune read then you get a quest that has you go deep into Forsworn territory in search of armor from the corpse of an ancient DB member.
The body is thrown in some locked closet an looks like he just died.
I found that pretty weird.

It would probably work for next gen though.

False. Letting them rot on the ground is as pointless as burying them. Much better to put their empty shells to much better use.

Dude there's enough glitches bugs and random crashes as it is I'm not sure I want decomposition making it even worse. Not to mention the inevitable partly decomposed mammoth falling out the sky and landing on your follower.

The cold keeps them from decomposing
