We the community veterans come to you with some pressing matters that have been brought up on the community forums, and as community veterans we would like to present to you our collective thoughts on the matter. We are passionate about Crysis 3, and like you, we want to see it succeed. Some of these proposals will be for the PC platform only, some can be fixed via a simple data patch, others may require a code patch. The main issues we have seen on the forums are the following:
1. Bow auto-aim
2. Scar/rapid-fire balancing and point blank damage
3. Firing weapons from stealth (excluding the bow)
4. Auto-Armor
5. Tap fire glitch
1. The Bow auto-aim:
We understand the reason for this "enlarged projectile" auto-aim. This is not a typical FPS weapon, and is quite difficult for new comers to learn how to use it. We also want this weapon to be accessible to new comers, but as the lifetime of a game progresses, so does gameplay balacing. In its current state, the bow is just too powerful because it is hard to miss your target. Servers are beginning to ban this weapon, and we dont want this to happen. As a group we would like to give you our recommendations to balance the Bow:
1. Completely remove auto-aim, make the "projectile size" the same as a DSG or GAUSS round.
2. Increase the arrow travel time to the same as a DSG or GAUSS round
This would be exclusive to the PC platform due to the tracking abilities of the mouse/keyboard. The benefits of the bow, such as firing from cloak and ability to use in close-mid range combat, will maintain the bows' place along with the other sniper rifles. At extremely long ranges, the sniper rifles (with sniper scopes) should be the better weapon. By increasing the arrow travel speed, this makes hitting targets at longer ranges easier without the need for an aim-assist.
2. Scar/rapid-fire balancing issues
From your telemetry data we’re sure you can see which weapon is used the most and is responsible for the most kills. The current issue is, the Scar, combined with rapid fire, laser sight, maneuverability, auto armor is supperior to any other weapon/loadout, period. Skilled players are abusing this loadout and again we are seeing Scars banned on several servers. Our recommendations for the scar:
1. Decrease the point blank modifier (or completely remove it).
2. Decrease the large rate of fire with rapid fire III
3. Add some recoil when using rapid fire
If the purpose of point blank modifiers are to give other weapons a chance against shotgun users, our argument is this: At point blank, a shot-gun should be the better weapon, and after the latest patches, shotguns are currently very unattractive weapons due to the large map sizes. If you're able to get to within point blank range of your enemy with a shotgun, you should have the advantage. The reduced increase in ROF with rapid-fire will help to balance this gun along with the other assault rifles.
3. Firing weapons from stealth (excluding the bow):
Currently the problem is, firing from stealth has absolutely zero consequences, and actually gives a tactical advantage when using auto-armor. While using auto-armor, it is easier to fire from stealth than it is to activate armor or deactivate stealth, and then fire. Our recommendation for firing guns from stealth.
1. Firing guns from stealth drains both armor and stealth.
4. AutoArmor
We understand the reason for auto-armor. It helps new players adjust to the crysis gameplay in which armor is very necessary when engaging in fire fights. The problem occurs when high skill players use autoarmor as a means to run at maneuverability speeds while essentially having armor active at all times. How do you restrict autoarmor to new players only?
1. We recommend to have a level cap and to leave auto-armor available for the default classes.
By having a level cap at level 50, players should be experienced enough to know how to engage armor mode when in fire fights, and by having a level cap it will help players learn the proper gameplay mechanics. However if a level 50 player still wants to use auto-armor, they can use the default classes.
5. Tap fire glitch
We are under the impression this is already being worked on. But we want to stress how important this fix is because it will prevent Scar users from tap glitching other players across the map.
Each of the other above recommendations is already a step in the direction of balancing auto-armor. More difficult to land bow-shots on very far away enemies will reduce the need to use auto-armor. Losing armor and stealth when firing from stealth will cause auto-armor users to learn at least a very minimal amount of suit management. And balancing the scar will begin to reduce the extremely over-powered loadout mentioned above (Scar/laser/foregrip/maneuverability/rapidfire/autoarmor)
These issues mentioned above have been brought up by the community day after day and many servers now have banned either scar, auto-armor, or both. We ask for you to seriously consider these changes, as we feel they will overall please the community, and take another step forward in making crysis 3 one of the best games of the year. Thank you very much for your time to read this and we would be more than happy to discuss any concerns you may have with these proposed changes.
Sincerely,
Community Vets
