Having just finished off alduin, I am already thinking about a new character, who will be a hunter/sniper type. Probably focus on sneak, archery, light armor, one-hand, alchemy, smithing, and a magic school like restoration or alteration. Might wind up joining the Legion.

I don't want to play a Bosmer, so am deciding between Orc, redguard, and dunmer. Any advice from those experienced with these races?

Drop resotration, waste of perks, replace it with speech or lockpicking, - if you don't have a certain affinity to any racial abilities just choose the race you think looks the best cos the skill bonuses don't really matter that much either way.

Consider the armours you expect to be wearing throughout the game and imagine your character wearing them later on.

My stealth character is a vampire redguard with dreadlocks, he looks like a more evil version of Isran in terms of facial features so yh hes pretty smexy.

Speech and Lockpicking are waste of perks. Restoration is almost always good with any build.

OP, a hunter makes me think of a Bosmer. They are naturals with a bow. A "sniper" makes me think of a Dunmer.

Whats the point of having restoration if your levelling alchemy?And I guess your right about lockpicking, perhaps the "extra pockets" perk in pickpocketing would be of use - 100 extra carrying capacity, usually when I have a stealth character I play as a lone wolf so be able to carry that much more stuff is vital if you dont have a companion.

True, you can make potions with Alchemy, but what if he will primarily make poisons?

Race really doesn't matter, just choose which one you want to RP as or whichever one you don't mind staring at for the next however many hours you will play with this character. After about two hours of gameplay, racial bonuses are basically obsolete and no-one really uses their racial powers anyway. In my opinion, out of the races you want to try, I would go for dunmer, I believe it suits the build the best but that's just my opinion.
