Should a future expansion(s) be outsourced?

If you ask me, if Bethesda can't for whatever [censored] reason they give us develop Skyrim expansions. They should outsource the development to a different developer like Obsidian Entertainment for future expansion packs.

Yeah but if they outsource the development to a trustworthy studio like Obsidian then they could work on Fallout 4 and release Skyrim DLC.

You are...persistent.

As much as most people would like to see some better closure to Skyrim, it's probably best to move on. It's going to be a long time before we get more TES. I am not a FO fan, so I will be looking forward to other games. Hello Splinter Cell and Saints Row...

Lol why would Obsidian want to make an itsy bitsy Skyrim extension? Fallout was a completely different story for the guys @ Obsidian. Obsidian are not firefighters and they have strong projects in development.

There's probably another studio that could be outsourced to.

I love how everybody on this forum hopes that Obsidian saves TES.

As interesting as an expansion made by those guys would be, they're very busy with their own projects right now. I'd much rather see them focus on Project Eternity to make it the best game it can be, instead of spending their time on side projects that have absolutely nothing to do with their current goals. If they cooperate with Bethesda again, it should be on Fallout, not on TES - and definitely not today.

There's probably another studio that could be outsourced to.
For example?

Yes, but if they didn't think of this solution a few months ago, they won't do it now...

Yes, I do. I know there's mods like Issgard coming but they are a very long way off compared to how Bethesda could have released a DLC.

Piranha Bytes (Gothic, Risen) could be interesting.

While I understand the frustration over the lack of a DLC that brings some closure I do believe that we have to keep in mind that Bethesda's popularity skyrocketed with Skyrim so they did not anticipate such a demand. The team they have while adequate and very talented is probably above average in employee numbers so they can only do so much in such a span of time. I am quite pleased with the content we got in the vanilla game and with DLC.

Maybe this sort of reaction will get them to maybe hire some more talented programmers so they can make DLC for future games in a timely manner and still have them be awesome expansions. If they want to make their games bigger, they must have a staff that can keep up. After all they have so much going on, Fallout 4, TES 6 and whatever else they got going... it's a lot of content for just one company. It would make sense to hire some experienced/talented game programmers/designers so that they can work on both the next Fallout and the next Elder Scrolls and have them both be epic games and also released before 2015.

So your in the barging stage of it eh? stage 3 fun. It's not going to happen they are done, I'd be surprised if we even got more bug fixes. Though that would be nice. *does the no more dlc dance and leaves* :tes: :violin: :starwars:

Okay, that is true. Have you played http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25704 by the way? I haven't myself, but Bethesda promoted it and people are saying that it is a good quest mod, so that could keep you busy a little bit. :P

As for outsourcing an expansion: I don't know if any "reliable" developer would accept a job to create an expansion for such a large game as Skyrim, and even larger universe. It is too low reward for having to study the lore and create a meaningful new expansion. So that would leave smaller developers who might not be as great, and could in turn make us wish they hadn't outsourced it.
But I'm not saying it wouldn't work, I just don't see it as anything that would happen.

As an add on to what I posted already... outsourcing the DLC's isn't a good idea and I wouldn't want any other company working on Elder Scrolls content but Bethesda Studios... I'd like to see Bethesda Studios maybe expand and hire more people.

Skyrim is finished. We wont get our hands on another Elder Scrolls game until at least late 2016. That is if you don't count TESO...

I'd rather have no dlc at all then for it to be developed by Obsidian
