About the new "over 100" legendary skills.

Kami12, if they are using alchemy and speech, it's quite simple:

Make a bunch of your uber-potions (you don't unlearn what you already know, the potions are just not as uber as they used to be)...there's 100 in Alchemy.

Go to a vendor, and sell them. There's 100 in Speech.
That makes sense, especially for Speech, thanks. I can also see Destruction building back really fast since it's just a combination of how much magicka you have (all of it) and the level of the spell you're casting (Master level, I presume) but alchemy? The best recipe I have won't get you there any faster the second time around (unless you now have enchanted alchemy gear which wasn't available the first time around, is that it?) and you'll still run out of ingredients relatively quickly. Gosh, I hope the enchanted alchemy gear doesn't make it that easy, kinda ruins the whole 'build it back up' vibe. I'll find out eventually...

EDIT: Actually, I'm not investing in Speech as it really serves no purpose for my current PC. Alchemy and Enchanting (possibly Blocking?) are really the best candidates for Legendary.

Can you enter legendary multiple times per skill tree? So the overall cap level is endless?

There's plenty of threads on alchemy, and just as much debate that it is either most excellent, or wholly bogus...but basically:

The main thing to remember is that not all ingredients are equal, and some match together better than others...which means that you can mix certain ingredients to make some very powerful or valuable potions.

The main perk you want to aim at getting first is the one that allows you to get all the effects of an ingredient with one tasting...this saves you doing an awful lot of work and experimenting.

Once you have worked out which are the best potions for selling, you are off and running...because the high value ones boost your alchemy when you create, and your speech when you sell.

Final point, aside from the alchemical merchant aspect, you can create some pretty potent poisons, which give a real advantage. Alchemy is one of the few multi-dimension skills in the game, and it does require some effort to use.

I play as a sorceress that depends on destruction. I was 100 in it. I play every day for about 6 to 8 hours a day. It took me almost 3 weeks to get that destruction to 100. I made it legendary. In 3 seconds, I got back the 16 perks that I spent in it, and it went from 100 to 15. I thought, OMG. What have I done. I did make a save before doing it. With the magicka I had, at level 44, I was still able to cast all the higher level spells, including the master ones.

After 6 hours of play, I was back up to 64 in destruction, used 3 of those perks points I got back in restoration, and still have 13 extra perk points left.

Once you make a skill legendary, you are starting that skill over, plus you get back any perk points you put into it. You will level that skill up a heck of a lot faster than you did the first time. I would not do alchemy or enchanting on legendary, for it was too hard to get those final points.

Why does it level faster the second time?

ha I almost did the same thing to my main skill but then thought about it and decided it would be dumb to have my guy forget how to swing his axe :P

I only go legendary with skills that are not important to survival as in Smithing and such

I have no idea. It could be because of ones level, but I do not know. I just know that I spent almost 3 weeks getting destruction to 100, it took 3 seconds to bring it back down to 15, and about 14 hours, ( a day and a half) to bring it back up to 74. I do alot od dual weilding and that was the hardest part. Waiting 15/20 minutes to get that perk.

So I guess you have to be mindful of what skills you want to go legendary with.

Definately! Don't go legendary on lockpicking or you could be in a world if hurt. ;). (lockpicking is kinda hard to level the second time around)

Pardon me for asking, but how does one role-play with this mechanic?

Also is there a benefit to getting to level 200+? I don't mean to sound difficult, I guess I really don't understand. Is it just to say, Hey, I maxed out all of my skills?

my thoughts exactly. I'm not a hardcoe role-player but it still feels odd to me to forget skills that you've learned already so that's why the only skills I go legendary are the secondary skills that I can RP around as in Smithing. For Smithing, I just imagine it's just another day at the forge yet I lack the materials to make the better items when actually I like the Smithing level by resetting it.

I guess that would work for smithing. How about for a skill like one-handed? I can't pretend I forget how to decapitate someone, lol.

The highest I have been about to go (role-playing) is the mid-fifties, and then I have done about everything. I don't think of myself as hardcoe either.

I need to find more restoration potion ingredients. I've been spamming muffle to get my illusion up and gain two levels per half hour.

ha true. Hmm the only thing that comes to mind to RP around resetting 1 hand would be a broken hand. You can equip your sword in your left hand and keep your right hand empty to keep up with the broken hand thing. Naturally using your weak hand would mean you would svck with a sword as you gain skill, then you can switch back once your skill's high enough to feel capable again and RP that your hand is healed or healed enough to swing your sword ;)

I thought it was awesome, it just doesn't help magic users as much because magic in this game is weird.

Let me explain to you the mysteries of the outer realm....

I have no @#$%ing idea.

The benefit is that you can fill up every perk on every conceivable skill...please refer to my preceding anolysis for a detailed understanding of the rationale behind the mechanic.

Edit:

Actually, while pondering this mystery, my logical conclusion would be that it should have been tied in with buying on of Brynolf's 'genuine falmer blood elixirs', so that you could learn a library's worth of knowledge in minutes. Obviously, the combination of Ratway sludge, skeever blood and dregs from Brynolf's skooma tub combined to form a toxic mixture that gave you temporary brain damage. Problem solved. How hard would that have been to factor into the game?
